About me

About me - the crazy peanut

Hi there!

Thanks for stopping by. My name is Andrea and I absolutely love cooking. Before I start telling you all about my love for food and all the healthy lifestyle stuff, let me tell you a little bit more about myself.

I was born and raised in Romania, until my parents decided to take me to Spain at 11 years old. I lived there for 15 years before moving to Amsterdam (Netherlands), where I’m currently living. My life has been a combination of moving across countries and trying (sometimes failing) to find a way to be healthier.

Throughout the years, I’ve learned to have a better relationship with food. I started changing my habits for the sole purpose of losing weight, but I realized it’s not about that. In fact, it’s about feeling stronger, having a better concentration and energy, and overall having a better mood. As someone who’s been struggling with IBS for … well, forever, 6 years ago, I decided to quit the chocolate muffins as a breakfast and met Mr. Oats. A lot has happened since then (mainly good things). After reading tons of articles and watching hundreds of YouTube videos about nutrition, I started experimenting and creating new recipes that were delicious enough to stop me from going to the supermarket and buying all the Kit Kat bars and Oreo cookies 😀

With all my research and the help of certain people in my life who patiently taught me how to cook (thanks Thomas), I found that my passion was creating delicious and healthy recipes. I had 0 cooking skills; I went from cooking “mehh” meals to creating some pretty tasty dishes. So, I thought to myself: what if I share all my creations online? And that’s why I created the Crazy Peanut. Why crazy? Because I am 😊 Why peanuts? Because I love peanuts.

Here you’ll find healthy and easy to follow recipes for those who (like me) are not necessarily professional cooks. My main goal is sharing all my discoveries and creations in a simple and easy to follow way, dropping some awful dad jokes here and there. I started this blog with the intention of sharing my favorite recipes, made with love (and hunger).

Although I don’t follow a specific diet, I do love trying vegan and vegetarian food, so you’ll probably find a lot of those here.

Here you’ll find vegan, vegetarian, sugar-free, gluten-free, and (almost) all the #free options.
